No July 4 fireworks at Jones Beach this year...

...not enough money to pay for the extra cops.

I heard about it over the weekend, I think there was a article in Newsday.

Best thing about Holbrook... lots of Italians. Every three day weekend = free fireworks from people's yards - to the extent that you feel half like you're in a parade and half like you're in Vietnam. But in a good way.

I'm not saying it's like Jones Beach - but it's fun.

Probably no free concert at Heckscher again either.... :(

Baltimore is having the same issue with funding issues for the July 4th show they do here. Hopefully a corporate sponsor(s) will emerge to help fund the police needed like they had happen here.
